Description
A view of the Olde Manse,a historic home built by the grandfather of Ralph Waldo Emerson. The house is very near to the Old North Bridge where the opening battle of the American Revolution began, and whose residents witnessed from the second floor windows. It was the center for gatherings of notables from history and literature such as , Emerson, Henry David Thoreau, and Nathanial Hawthorne who rented it for a time. The home is now on the list of National Historic Landmarks of Massachusetts.
